1969 - Admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association as a Lawyer (cédula n.º 2615 L), practicing law uninterruptedly since then, always with an office in Lisbon.

1987/89 - Vice-President of the Lisbon District Council of the Portuguese Bar Association.

1990/92 - Member of the General Council of the Portuguese Bar Association.

1993/95 - President of the Lisbon District Council of the Portuguese Bar Association.

1996/98 - Member of the Superior Council of the Portuguese Bar Association.

1999/2001 - Vice-President of the General Council of the Portuguese Bar Association.

2005/07 - President of the Superior Council of the Bar Association.
